Born in Scotland, raised in Johannesburg and now based in Cape Town, Kid Fonque is a producer, DJ and the founder of Stay True Sounds. With more than two decades in South African music, his ear as a selector and curator is deeply connected to the way he approaches production. Since launching Stay True Sounds in 2015, his own releases have helped shape the label’s musical identity, moving between deep house, soul, jazz and electronic music. From I Move To A Different Beat to his collaborations with Jonny Miller, his work is led by groove, musicality and an instinct for bringing different sounds and musicians together.
